This policy covers how PriceTank collects, uses, and protects your personal data. It is written to comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025.

PriceTank is operated by Colada Group Ltd of BDC, Stafford Park 4, Telford, United Kingdom. We are the data controller for personal data collected through this website.

We do not collect sensitive personal data (special category data under UK GDPR Article 9) and do not ask for financial information such as bank account or payment card details.

3. Price alert data. Detail

When you register for a price alert, we store your email address, postcode, and alert preferences. We use this solely to send you the alerts you have requested. We do not sell this data to suppliers or third parties.

Each alert email contains an unsubscribe link. Clicking it immediately removes your preferences and email from our alert system. We will delete your data within 30 days of unsubscribing unless you re-register.

We may use your email to send you a weekly heating oil price digest if you have selected that alert type. We will not send you marketing emails unless you have separately consented to receive them.

4. Commercial enquiry data. Detail

When you submit a commercial fuel enquiry, the information you provide is shared with fuel suppliers relevant to your postcode and fuel type. By submitting the form you consent to this sharing. We will tell you clearly which suppliers your data may be shared with before you submit.

We retain commercial enquiry data for 12 months for our records and for the purpose of improving our supplier matching. We do not sell commercial enquiry data to data brokers or marketing lists.

5. Cookies

We use the following categories of cookies:

Our cookie banner presents "Accept all" and "Reject all" options with equal visual prominence, in line with ICO 2026 PECR guidance. You can change your preferences at any time via the cookie settings link in the footer. We do not set non-essential cookies before you have given consent.

6. How we store and protect your data

Your data is stored on servers located in the United Kingdom / European Economic Area. We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit, password-protected access to data files, and access controls limiting who within our team can view personal data.

Price alert data (email, postcode, preferences) is stored in a password-protected file on our server. Commercial enquiry data is stored in a similarly protected file and is transmitted to relevant suppliers via encrypted email.

We do not transfer personal data outside the UK/EEA without appropriate safeguards in place.

10. Third parties

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We may share data with:

Fuel suppliers, only when you submit a commercial enquiry, and only with suppliers relevant to your enquiry
Email service providers: to deliver price alert emails (data processed under a data processing agreement)
Hosting providers: our web server provider processes data on our behalf under a data processing agreement

We do not use advertising networks, data brokers, or third-party marketing platforms that receive personal data from this site.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a revised "last updated" date. For material changes affecting price alert subscribers, we will notify you by email.
